Your point about how different it is from the late 90's/early noughties hits home for me. I moved from Northern Ireland to England for my degree in 2003, it was such a different place then. Unercognisable to today. Brexit really broke me, I couldn't handle the division and complete lack of empathy towards my homeplace. So I moved to Canada and now watch the UK increasingly self harm from abroad. I am suprised there haven't yet been riots, but the sad reality seems to just be apathy and an expectation from the public that the people in charge will unabashedly do whatever they want.
